About the show
They should have kept driving.
Two recent Berkeley graduates take one last road trip before real life starts — and stop in Halloway, a fog-swallowed town at the end of a long county road. Sightseeing, they find a body. The only thing on it is a black card printed with a single word: ylobrkrd. Following the clues means following a road someone laid down on purpose. A serialized mystery fiction podcast in the tradition of Limetown and Archive 81.
The road
ylobrkrd is yellow brick road, stripped down. It's also the structure: the mystery unspools like a road, one clue — one brick — at a time. Each episode is its own case. Solving it earns the next brick. The bricks lead somewhere, and someone is laying them on purpose.
The two of them
Reese is the seeker: warm, curious, pulled forward by wonder, the one who insists on following the road. Sloane is the skeptic: analytical, dry, wants to turn back and never quite does. She is usually right. Their friendship is the spine of the whole thing.

Frequently asked
Is ylobrkrd a true crime podcast?
No. ylobrkrd is a work of fiction — a scripted, serialized mystery audio drama. The town of Halloway, its characters, and the events are invented. If you like the tension of true crime but prefer a written story with a designed arc, this is for you.
What is ylobrkrd about?
Two recent Berkeley graduates, Reese and Sloane, take one last road trip before real life starts and stop in Halloway, a fog-swallowed town at the end of a long county road. Sightseeing, they find a body carrying nothing but a black card printed with a single word: ylobrkrd. Following the clues means following a road someone laid down on purpose.
What does the name “ylobrkrd” mean?
It's “yellow brick road” stripped to its bones — and it's the structure of the show. The mystery unspools like a road, one clue (one “brick”) at a time, each laid deliberately by someone who wants the leads to keep walking.
How long are episodes and how often do they release?
Episodes run about 30 minutes. Each is its own self-contained case that also advances the larger mystery, so you can start at Episode 1 and follow the road in order.
Where can I listen?
ylobrkrd is available wherever you get podcasts — Apple Podcasts, Spotify, YouTube Music, Overcast, Pocket Casts, and any app that reads a standard RSS feed. You can also play every episode right here on the site, where each one includes a full transcript.
Is it scary?
It's eerie, atmospheric, and suspenseful rather than gory. Think Limetown, Archive 81, or The Magnus Archives — dark material handled with restraint, built on dread and mystery instead of shock.
